Young entrepreneur Liam Mee who grew up on the Gurnos Estate, Merthyr Tydfil has been named South Wales Young Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2015 South Wales Business Awards.
Since their launch in 2008, the Awards have become a must attend event in the South Wales business calendar. This year’s ceremony took place in Cardiff over the weekend.
Liam Mee graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Product Design from UWTSD Swansea in 2011. He is founder and Director of Port Talbot-based MeeCreative, a successful design company that has developed an international profile. The company employs three staff and offers a range of product design, brand development, digital and print services. It has dedicated in-house electronic and PCB design capabilities, as well as using cutting-edge CAD and prototyping techniques.
Liam said: “I was extremely humbled and pleased to be shortlisted for such a prestigious award and when I found out I won I was truly overjoyed. Starting and running a business is no easy feat and to have some sort of recognition for all the hard work I’ve put in over the past four years makes it all worthwhile.
“Even though the award was a personal one, I have a lot of people to thank whom, without their support, I wouldn’t be where I am today; The Princes Trust, my amazing team at MeeCreative, UWTSD, the company’s Chairman Barry Wanless, my family and friends, and my fantastic and supportive partner Amy. I look forward to what the future has to hold for both myself and MeeCreative.”
Since its inception, the company has worked on projects for Winmau, University of Wales, the Dylan Thomas Centre and London-based theatre company BrightLights to name but a few.
