In October 2015, Tony Wade and his daughter Bev undertook a five day trek through the lunar-like landscape of the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan, made famous by Lawrence of Arabia. After days spent trekking, when they slept under the stars, they finally trekked north to Petra and Mount Nebo (claimed to be the burial place of Moses).
They were raising money for Ty Hafan, the children’s hospice in Wales, and for Merthyr Tydfil Rotary Club, to help them support many deserving causes at home and abroad, and reacting to disasters wherever they occur.
They both felt that the whole challenge was amazing, culminating in the visit to Petra, the Dead Sea and the amazing Roman ruins at Jerash. Both can’t wait to return to this amazing country.
